Keep a few sweaters handy and maybe a pair of gloves. It has snowed on my birthday here in Omaha (May 23rd).
In fact in 1977 when I turned 16 and tested for a drivers license it snowed some big fat wet flakes.
That was probably the shortest driving test given that year. 3 blocks and she made me turn around. Your done, you pass!

Just checking data from Omaha NWS since 2000- we've had at least trace amounts in April on April 7, 2000; April 2, 2002; April 4, 2003 (0.2 inches); April 6, 2003 (2.2 inches); April 7, 2003 (2.3 inches); April 8, 2003 (0.2 inches).

To be fair Big E (or equally unfair, depending on your point of view) people slaughter the English language just as often out here (i.e. ending sentances with prepositions, which you so inaccurately think is a midwest thing )...not that it even matters, languages are never completely static, they grow and change and what was once considered inappropriate (like this incredibly long sentance, for example) become accepted.
But you know...it still annoys me too.

Looks like 50-80% of us in Douglas and Sarpy counties refer to soft drinks as 'pop'..I guess I've fallen into that 'soda' minority ..But true enough..My family/friends down in Texas refer to soft drinks as 'coke'..
I switched to saying soda a few years ago, but recently (and purposely) I switched back. Our saying pop is sort of like us having an accent, so I play it up as much as possible.
You guys crack me up. Actually, this site was one of the factors that swayed my decision to move to Omaha. None of the other cities I was looking at had a site like this, filled w/friendly people who love their city. I thought it was really cool, and I tell people about it all the time. Only 2 more weeks til I'm there...SO excited.
Oh, I say "soda".

Glad to hear we have something in common along the 'soda' front Twilight..
Soda water or Perrier anyone? I stopped drinking sodas years ago and so I either drink soda water, club soda, sparkling water, seltzer water, carbonated water, Perrier, or Mendota Springs (doties)...
