I need suggestions....
I am coming over next weekend from Des Moines. It has been several years since I have been Omaha and I need some ideas on what I should take in while I am there.
I hear Blue has good sushi. Any other suggestions for good restaraunts or bars to visit?
Thanks in advance.

I'd like to think there's a group of us here that are pretty knowledgable about Omaha. If you'd like for some of us to show you around don't be afraid to asked. We'd be more than welcome to show you the city.
As far as what to do, the Old Market is a must. I guess it also depends on what you like to do.

Blue and Hiro both have good "modern" sushi, as in trendy see-how-much-|expletive|-you-can-stuff-in-a-roll. If you're into that, I give them both a thumbs up. For the best "traditional" sushi in town (and, for my money, anywhere I've ever been in the US), try Sakura Bana on 84th and Dodge. It is the former Sushi Ichiban (everything is exactly the same except the name). If you like traditional sushi this is an absolute must.

I agree with others, it depends on what you are into. I would say the Old Market, Henry Doorly, Durham Western Heritage, Joslyn and any plays or other shows you can take in are all musts. As far as food, sushi Ichaban is the best sushi but don't stop there. Omaha is rich with dining choices, you name it, you can find it.

Thanks for all of the tips. You guys have been very helpful.
DTO- Thanks for invite, but I am coming over with my wife to celebrate our one year aniversary. I would actually like to get over to Omaha sometime in the next couple of months to check out some of the developments in the Omaha area. What can I say... I am a development geek.
P.S - I think we are going to Upstream to watch part of the Iowa game.... Unless anyone has any suggestions for a good sports bar where I can watch the Hawks.

I love Surfside! I'll have to try to make it up there before they close for the winter.

I know! But the other detail that I saw on Thursday - was the fact that almost 85% of the people there - excluding of course Suzanne and myself - were over 65 years old. Holy Carp!jhuston wrote:No kidding, that's the primary motivation for my being drawn there... eating fritters on the deck.
I had to ask - what does that mean? Do younger people with kids prefer BK? Are they less adventurous? Is it too far out of the way? Do they rely on word of mouth and not ads?
I did not venture inside - so were they there? I couldn't believe the license plates I saw there. 6 States - multiple NE CO plates.
