"Here's the final rendering, sir."

"Hmmmm."

"Is something wrong?"

"Something is missing. It's not quite right."

"I could add a giant goose?"

"Perfect."

Is that the same pterodactyl that used to terrorize the pedestrian bridge?

I've eaten at the top of the (then) Red Lion Hotel on 16th and Capitol.

A good view, but... there's nothing to look at.

An observation tower needs other landmarks to view.
Google Maps offers a similar experience, but again... what's to look at?

The only other use for such a tower: broadcasting.  Crown Point does a better job, and cheaper.

Would people pay for such a view?  Is there enough tourist traffic to make it profitable?    Probably not.

A good spot for a better looking observation tower would be in front of the Union Pacific. Maybe a 1,000 foot tall one like the one in Auckland. I know it's a long shot but it sure would be cool.

There is very little demand and nobody willing to pay for an observation tower in Omaha, much less on some of the most expensive land in town. Maybe First National will open a viewing deck or something, but the odds of such a tower being built are zero.

I doubt FNB will ever open their deck to the public, it is on the executive suite and you need special cards to get on that floor.

I'm so glad this is in the "Projects NEVER Built" section. I would hate that in Omaha. I recently came to learn of Tulsa's "Tornado Tower", and although I find it really cool, I wouldn't want that here either.
I can get pushed out because I'm "too much" for some. Then, an observer of me comes suddenly swooping in to "fill my shoes." People are always more accepting of the new one, because their feathers aren't truly ruffled by them. (Yawn) I can count on it every time.
