I can't make up my mind of private law enforcement.
On one hand, it's a heck of a lot cheaper, and places a far lesser burden on tax payers. On the other hand, there's the whole "accountability" thing (personal and monetarily)...
If a public employee |expletive| up, and it involves a private citizen, it is usually other private citizens who pay - via taxes, whereas, when a privately employed officer screws up, himself and his employer are on the hook.
Now, when it comes to personal accountability, private employees may not be as well trained, nor experience the recourse a public employee would.
