I can't figure that one out either... Flood plain? Part of Seymour Park?

Its all agricultural south and west of the BNSF Railroad. Few houses to the north, but not in a typical neighborhood.

1. White Area is currently what is not annexed.

2. Flood plain light blue, floodway dark blue

The total valuation of the annexed areas is $932.4 million, with a population of 8,752, according to the Mayor’s Office.
So if all areas are annexed, the new population of Omaha should be around 443,000 (current est as of July 1, 2013: 434,353 + 8,752)

This '19th' area was not listed in the mayors Press Release, so I don't know where the OWH got this property from...

Well may be its a mis-print. "Harper Valley" is the the neighborhood with the 5 Cul-de-sacs that are next the the railroad tracks on 50th street. May be that is the area NW of 60th and Harrison.

It should make the sheriff's department happy that they don't have to patrol those eastern areas anymore. Most of the unincorporated parts of the county are out west.

Don't know how I missed this, but there was a special Planning Board meeting last week where the Mayor's annexation plane was "APPROVAL 4-1. Approval of the 2014 Annexation Package, excluding Miracle Hills and Northeast of 60th and Harrison Streets."

Annexation debate hits a snag with Pacific Springs, most conversation now is about infrastructure and street improvements (for 180th St.) in the suburbs vs the inner city and North Omaha, passes on a 5-2 vote.

All other properties were just annexed except for Miracle Hills, denied 7-0, and the section north of Harrison near 60th St.

So we can safely say that Omaha has added another 8,500 or so to the population?

We should get some tracking devices for this dude's new trash cans.

Chuck Copeland lives in Pacific Springs and has mixed feelings about his neighborhood being annexed. He’s worried about the city taking over the trash route.

“I drive through the neighborhoods around here that are controlled by the city trash and there's garbage cans blowing all over the neighborhoods and stuff,” said Festersen.

Is he suggesting that annexation will cause his average wind speed to increase?

I know what he meant, but come on guy. Put forth at least a little effort if your going to put your name out there.

8,700 is the number being thrown around.

Ends up they finally did annex the 60th & Harrison property. Councilman Thompson was having a bad day, and later asked to change his vote when he admitted he was confused with what he was voting for.

Apparently he also was on record saying on radio that he would support Maria Sangria one last time, but after hearing deliberations just couldn't vote in their favor.
