A video of a woman testifying against the anti-discrimination ordinance at the Lincoln City Council this week went viral, but her family says she is diagnosed with schizophrenia and shouldn't be taken seriously.

No |expletive|ing shizer.

"To me, it shows how little society really cares about people with mental health issues," Patrick Svoboda said. "She does have a very tender heart ... but anything she says is certifiably schizophrenic ... she's not some crazy conservative."

I probably shouldn't make a joke about how her family had to point out she is actually crazy and not an actual conservative, but there you go.

In the past she has posted these flyers around downtown Lincoln which, thankfully, someone has decided to preserve for those of us not in Lincoln.

Apparently she is also well-known on campus for standing outside of the union handing out flyers and enlightening passers-by with her many opinions.

She's the same lady that in 2008 asked Obama in a Iowa town hall meeting if he could combat terrorists and then if he would close the borders. Â Obama pretty much responded by saying those were two completely different topics.

It wasn't the first time Svoboda has testified before the council. She also is a registered lobbyist at the Capitol.

She usually speaks twice a month during the council's open mic sessions, where citizens can talk for up to five minutes on any topic. The council sits patiently until she is done.

Svoboda has talked about Chinese "subliminals" that come through cellphones and other electronics, paradise on earth and family members being killed by doctors.

She once brought in a large stick figure that she said was her mother's ghost, but the council told her not to bring in props anymore.

As a general rule (it certainly doesn't apply in every case) the modern left is the haven of people who aren't nearly as smart as they think they are and the modern right is the haven of people trying their damndest to be as dumb as possible. Â The right invites a more visceral disgust, but I don't think they are necessarily any worse than the left. Â The middle is probably worse than either, it seems to adopt the authoritarian leanings of both sides.
