Untapped - Beer App

Post by Brad »

Coyote and I have been using a phone app called Untapped. Anyone else using it?

Its basically 4-square for beer drinkers.

You keep track of the beers you drink, where you bought/drank it, info on beers, suggestions for similar beers,
Comes with others' ratings, notes, where to find a beer you are looking for... Great app for beer snobs like me.

I mean unlocking the badge for the first time, not the additional levels. I don't think it's really fair to drink 50 beers, take 50 pictures and get 10 Photogenic badges. We are winding down the country beers and have started working more on the location badges. It's kind of funny walking into a golf course clubhouse, ordering a beer, checking it in, drinking it and leaving to go to another golf course, lol.

Also I should say that I have gained a few pounds since really working at the badges more.

Well after the Omaha Beerfest, I am a couple months away from 1000 now...

I chose for my 500th Boulevard's Bourbon Barrel Quad,
my 200th was North Coast's Barrel-Aged Old Rasputin,
my 100th was Deschutes Black Butte XXV...
But my 1000th has to be special. Any local suggestions for my 1000th?

I was at Lucky Bucket last week and found that they do not update their listing on Untappd much (ever?). Tried the manual adding of beer and it actually worked great. Once you manually add the beer, anyone in the world can start checking in that beer.

Its going to stop counting your ipas for a while, until they decide to raise the number of levels again, at which point you'll make a jump to what level you would be on. I hit level 50 last fall, and have had a few ipas since.

Cheers Brad! Was a special beer reserved for the occasion?

Just checked, my #1000 was a rye pale ale at Half Moon Bay Brewing in CA, on the patio overlooking the ocean.

Yeah, that sucks. I haven't had a IPA Count since April 29th...

I have IPA, Photogenic Brew, and Land of the Free all maxed out at 50.

Drove up to Ord and Checked in 999 and 1000 at Scratchtown Brewing on the way to my Sandhills photography trip. #1000 was their Sidburns' Milk Stout

Since we're all bragging about 1000...

My 1000th was Guiness Extra Stout.

I've REALLY slown down this year due to health reasons. BTW, is it possible to get the Australia badge solely in Omaha?

There are a big chunk of mine that are 2oz samples from beer flights.

Lol, never thought about that one. I have yet to check in an Australian beer... Coyote is the one that seeks out beers to rack up the badges.

I have had a few Australian beers on the past, but before Untappd came out, so I have no check-ins from there, though I do have 3 from New Zealand, all purchased in Council Bluffs. So theoretically you can, but only if you can find some in the metro area.

Nice, I was just listening to the release broadcast.

Seems like a great update! Lots of cool new features and seems even simpler to use.
