Whoa, that original manuscript was gruesome.

If you haven't seen the Ohio stuff, dial up your favorite news website.

It seems like more people are talking about Charles Ramsey than they are the 3 people rescued after a decade.

What's sad is that there are many, many others who have literally fallen off of the radar screen!

It wasn't that long ago that a local (Omaha) college student was walking to meet a ride for work. He disappeared without a trace.

It's very frustrating that nothing is being done about people who have gone missing under suspicious circumstances. :(

Yep, they'll be on the talk shows, get a book deal and maybe a Lifetime movie, all while thousands of other families with missing kids still suffer.

It's not that they are unwilling or less than ambitious to follow leads, it's that they likely have no leads. It's hard to understand the mind and motive of psychopaths who plan to abduct an idividual, which, probably, makes it near impossible to investigate.

If that aired that during a newscast, it sounds like a teaser to keep people tuned-in until after a commercial break.

You mean as lame as wowt's "severe thunderstorm watch issued for the area, stay tuned for weather details", literally 4 hours after it had expired?

Man in Iowa tries to shoot caged raccoon, shoots himself in the leg. Oh, and it occurred near a town called 'Correctionville.'

I should clarify that I grew up in a neighboring town, but yes graduated high school in Correctionville. No, not a friend, but I know who that guy is. Lets just say that this story is less than shocking. :)

AGENT SUSPENDED: Governor Denies Speeding Retaliation

When asked what he thinks the public would feel about his vehicle going well past the posted limit, the governor responded, “I don’t try to backseat drive or tell the troopers what they should do. I have confidence in them and I think they do a good job.”

Hecklund’s attorney told the Register his client got suspended after complaining about superiors following the speeding incident. Branstad denied Hecklund got suspended for reporting the governor’s speeding vehicle. The governor said, “Well, that is being investigated. And I don’t think there’s any relationship.”

How do people of this caliber become vested with investigatory power?

Federal Government Opens Investigation Into USC For Mishandling Of Rape Allegations

Here's another article on that case. Towards the bottom, this sentence caught my attention:
Reed said she was assaulted in 2010 and reported it in November 2012.

From what I've learned in nursing school, it isn't entirely uncommon for rape victims to wait for extended periods to report it, especially if it happened in a structured institution.

As always, there's two sides to every story and the truth ususally lies somewhere in between - give or take.

A Kansas City Man Committed Suicide on his 60th Birthday in the Overland Park Police Station parking lot.

Sad, Maybe, but what make this strange is the planning and story that he put into planning this.

He was a former KC Stare reporter.  As he took his life a web site went live.  The Original site has been taken down but as of now anyway there is a mirror of it that you can see everything he wrote.  I spend some time reading and it is disturbing an interesting all at the same time.

Story

http://gawker.com/kc-man-kills-himself- ... 1153793095

Mirrored Site

http://www.zeroshare.info/

From his web site

Today is August 15, 2013. Today is my 60th birthday. Today is the last day of my life. Today, I committed suicide. Today, is the first day this site is active, but it will be here for years to come. Release of rights.

Before I get into the nuts and bolts of this site, I first must say to those whom I have a special bond with, please don't think that I didn't consider your feelings. I'm sorry... very sorry for the hurt and pain I will have caused by my actions. In all probability, I won't be able to justify it to you - at least not today. Maybe someday you will come to understand... better. If not today, maybe someday you will be able to read what I've said and learn why. Maybe someday you will be able to forgive me. I love you!

This site is divided into two major categories. The first is the suicide. The second is my life. To the left side of this page, you will see categories. Under some of them are subcategories. You can click and read anything you want. My life is an open book now that I’ve closed the book on my life.

Who runs Omaha's mysterious radio station? No one seems to know
Russell Hubbard: World-Herald staff writer wrote:The ghost station of Omaha is a mysterious radio signal at 1490 AM — seemingly without owners, advertisers or disc jockeys — that plays a continuous loop of Buddy Holly, Petula Clark and Bobby Darin, like a 1960s malt-shop jukebox stuffed with an endless supply of coins.

According to one of the comments, the tower for the station is located at 38th and Wright.

The owner's name is Ted Tucker, and he has a history of "phantom" radio stations. OWH would know this, if they made a slight journalistic effort.

Man brewed beer in his gut, say researchers
A Texas man who stumbled into an emergency room showing signs of drunkenness has become a medical anomaly – he was diagnosed with auto-brewery syndrome.

The 61-year-old man was found to have a blood alcohol level of .37, five times the legal limit in Texas. Medical staff assumed he was inebriated, but the man insisted he hadn’t had one drop of alcohol all day. They were also told he had spent the past five years with bouts of intoxication that didn’t involve drinking booze.
