42nd and Leavenworth Building Collapse
Crazy scene right now. Â Looks like a car crashed into an old brick building with an antique store in it. Â The roof is sagging in and looks like it could fall any second.
lol @ the odds we used to live in the same home! lmao. little white home, driveway on east?guitarguy wrote:They just opened that store didn't they? I used to live on 45th and Leavenworth so this is crazy to hear.. Hope everyone is ok!
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill
Haha I believe it was 4417 Leavenworth the house that has a 2 car garage leading out onto Leavenworth across from the Honda Repair shop? Doesn't sound like same house but I LOVED living in that area some day want to live near there again.S33 wrote:lol @ the odds we used to live in the same home! lmao. little white home, driveway on east?guitarguy wrote:They just opened that store didn't they? Were were down there for several hours last night watching. Â Went back for about 20 min this morning. Â Building has to be a total loss.
They pulled 2 bodies out just before noon.

Not only a foundation, but a full basement. Â There was a day or two you could see it before they filled it in with dirt.guitarguy wrote:Now that looks weird!! Was there no foundation? looks like it was built on top of grass

UNMC will be working with Morton Meadows Neighborhood Association to make this lot more aesthetically pleasing. A group of MMNA's members met with Omaha by Design and completed a "Place Game Workshop." Ideas currently floating around include a patriotic mural on the remaining commercial building, benches, a new Morton Meadows sign, retaining walls etc. Fundraising and final plans to be determined, but at least a few of these ideas will most likely be implemented.

That will be nice to dress up the corner and bring a little more green space to the area.jelizh wrote:UNMC will be working with Morton Meadows Neighborhood Association to make this lot more aesthetically pleasing. I'm surprised that UNMC didn't purchase the corner in order to add 20 more parking spaces.

I can't wait until they do something with the old gas station on the other corner. It looks like such a dump.
