Cara Pesek / World-Herald staff writer wrote:Shortly thereafter, the producer asked for an audition video. By late winter, “House Hunters” crews had visited Omaha twice to film her and Joey, 30, as the Omaha couple looked at homes that would fit their budget and lifestyle. They'll appear on the show at 9 p.m. Thursday.

Nice I will have to check it out.  My wife watch that show all the time and I was just saying that they need to have a few more homes from the midwest.

People are going to fall over when they see our housing prices!  I was talking to a relator in the gallery Friday night.  He was from Carmel, CA and he couldn't believe our housing prices.

They ended up in a Celebrity house in the burbs.  I wish it was one of those where they mentioned locations as well.

Not really the best representation of the neighborhood variety available in Omaha, but their budget was pretty limited at 150k. The couple must have been avoiding OPS neighborhoods, one can assume, even though they never said that on the show. They did have some pretty good shots of downtown Omaha. Old Market, Ped bridge, etc. I don't think that episode would really get 20 or 30-somethings very excited about buying a house in Omaha. Oh well.
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.

I guess there's a home for everyone. But a 150K could have got them so much more potential with an older home that needed just a touch of care. (I know not everyone wants a fixer-upper)

My good buddy just got a house in Benson and he picked it up for a steal at 25k and we have discovered that the whole house has beautiful hardwood floors and I have no doubt in my mind that with a fresh coat of paint and refinishing the wood floors their house is already nicer at a total cost of around 30k with improvements than a 150k house out in the burbs..

Anyone guess where the houses are?

Here are mine:
1.  114 the street between Dodge and Center
2.  92nd street , and I am guessing in the Maple Village area.
3.  192 and Blondo.

Nice shots of Omaha.  If I was forced to choose between those three, I would have chosen number 1.

There was a desperate family and the bank was using a short sale so they low balled them and they accepted the offer to move the house! Makes me want to do the same thing since they got the information from the bank and his monthly payment is $150 haha  :lafcry:

Hard to pass that one up if it was in their ballpark style wise.  I recall looking at those types of places when we moved and we couldn't get one within 40-50k of that price.

The other two were so damn out of date, even if you hate the burbs.  I loved the prison shower ;)

Plus, an already constructed meth lab in the basement...

Well Duh! He wouldn't have even considered it if he couldn't factor in the illicit drug profits made in the basement! :lafcry:
