Peyton Manning can't stop talking about Omaha
The Broncos quarterback wants you to experience beautiful Omaha.

SB Nation wrote:1. Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha has an indoor swamp.

2. The Omaha Beef likely have the best name in all of indoor football.

3. According to Wikipedia: "Omaha's rate of violent crimes per 100,000 residents has been lower than the average rates of three dozen United States cities of similar size." YOU GO OMAHA!

4. Omaha is one of the "most walkable" cities in America.

5. Professional wrestler "Sting" was born in Omaha.

[stupidjoke]The World-Herald will probably send a cease and desist letter because omaha.com is part of their brand, or only allow people who have a paid 7 day subscription to hear the 'Omaha' call after the 12th time. [/stupidjoke]

They are still talking about "Omaha" on the Radio today. This fill-inn for Jim Rome just played all of them in a row... It went on for a while.

Check out two of my Omaha Skyline photos on Washington DC's ABC Affiliate!

http://www.wjla.com/articles/2014/01/ja ... 99287.html

They show then at the 00:20 min mark, then again at the 14:00 min mark. At the 15:00 min mark the actual Story about Payton Manning and Omaha starts where they interview David Brown from the Greater Omaha Chamber and then they show the photos again at the 16:55 min mark!

Kelly: 'Omaha!' calls could add up for Peyton Manning

http://www.omaha.com/article/20140116/NEWS/140119042" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Michael Kelly / World-Herald columnist wrote:
Responding to Peyton Manning's frequent “Omaha! Omaha!” calls before the ball is snapped, five Omaha corporations say they will collectively donate $500 to his Peyback Foundation for every time he says “Omaha” during Sunday's nationally televised playoff game.

Heard this on the radio yesterday afternoon... http://www.710knus.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is giving away a trip to Omaha if you guess how many times Manning says "Omaha".

The bad part of the story is that they are making fun of Omaha in the promotional commercial. Say "Visit the largest ball of stamps and the Omaha Bowling Hall of Fame".

Can we enter to win and ask for a cash prize, since we wouldn't need the airfare?

Nice to see the city trying to capitalize on the media attention. As a marketing major, I am glad to see this. I wonder if they are going to air a commercial during the game?

This just in.....Manning admits the City of Omaha is paying him $5000 each time he shouts "Omaha" during a game. If the Broncos make it to the Super Bowl, the payment jumps to $50,000 per each occurrence. Mayor Stothert did not return our calls seeking comment. ...you heard it here first!
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.

I hope that Denver wins this weekend so Tom Brady is denied a Super Bowl and then loses the Super Bowl so I don't have to hear about this all through the off season.

I always pose that question to people that aren't from Omaha....they get it wrong all the time. I only missed the one with What does Omaha mean; I don't think that any of them are the correct answer. Omaha means either "upstream" or "against the current". I have never once seen it referenced as "dwellers on the bluff", however when I googled it I was able to find one article with that definition.

I have heard it before. I don't know if UNMC is the highest historic authority, but http://www.unmc.edu/studentservices/813.htm.
Situated among the rolling hills along the West bank of the Missouri River, the city was named after the Omaha tribe, which means "Dwellers on the bluff,"

Omaha is an English corruption of the Otoe word for the native americans living in the hills of Omaha and the Elkhorn river valley near Omaha. The word means "those who live upstream".

The Omaha tribe was pushed north by the effects of disease and the Pawnee. By the time white settlers moved to the Omaha area, the Omahas were north of here and in small numbers. By the time "Omaha City" was founded as part of the long con on Abe Lincoln, the area was controlled by Pawnee from whom the fir traders, the Mormons, and ultimately, the Council Bluffs-Nebraska Ferryboat Co rented land.

The Pawnee, like many native tribes tried to stay away from the Missouri and thought of the land deals down by the river as easy money (today's lesson: never trust easy money). Until the mainstem dams and channelization, most people with options tried to stay away from the Missouri river. Thus the development of the Gold Coast neighborhood up on the bluffs and the development of the sporting district (AKA, the burnt district) down by the river. Even the Snowdens (night watchman for the "city" and his wife lived on a bluff near today's little Italy.

since all of you pointed out the cliff dwellers farce, I only missed one. I didn't know about the porch swing thing.
My son got a 27 on his ACT. No this score is not as high as what Jeff's son achieved. But one has to remember the paternal gene-pool my son has to overcome. On a PGPAB [Paternal Gene-Pool Adjusted Basis], my son's score is a 37 and Jeff's son's PGPAB ACT score is 19.

My wife and I said the same thing...the opening picture was the capitol building. I was also wondering where the shot with all the people walking was....it didn't seem like anywhere in Omaha either.

Its super Awesome, but I still don't think its really sunk in to how big. Its just hard to comprehend. The bar keeps getting higher and higher too... First it was 40,000 views of "Above Omaha" over on the Grow Omaha Forums which crashed my website. Then my flood Aerials got over 136,000 views on this forum. Now +/- 9 million on ABC.

I still would have never thought last Sunday when watching the Bronco's game that my photos would be on the ABC World New 6 days later...

If only I had a dollar for every time it was viewed tonight....

I have to believe you are mostly the reason why outsiders who see Omaha in a great light, see Omaha in a great light. You are great for our city!
