He was a good host. I listened when I could. I followed him from KFAB to wherever he was in Fargo then back to KOIL.

I was a big fan of Becka when I delivered Pizza during college but now that Baker is hosting I make sure to listen to his show everyday.. Becka's voice is the hardest to listen to in the business too.

Thats unfortunate. I didnt love him but I generally enjoyed his show. He was hard to listen to some, especially when he got riled up. Far better option that the other rude a hole whos on kfab

That sucks, I disagreed with Tom Becka on a lot of issues but really enjoyed listening to him. He really did a good job interviewing local figures and even when his opinions seemed to fit annoyingly into the space of conventional wisdom, you always got the feeling he wasn't faking a point of view to placate his audience. Best wishes, Tom, may you find success in your future endeavors.

KOIL did a horrible job promoting his show. I forgot he was even on there.

I will agree, he was so much better than what KFAB has on now. That guy is brutal.

It's especially painful when he tries to be funny.

The OWH is reporting that Bob Bruce will be taking Tom Becka's Time Slot.

The Same Bob Bruce that hosted Unsportsmanlike Conduct with Kevin Kugler way back in the day. The part of the story that made me feel old... That was over 12 years ago! Wow!

So Bob Bruce is done as of Tomorrow. Scuba Steve is filling in next week and then that guy from Omaha Live takes over the 11th. I tried watching that Omaha live for about a half a min once and it wasn't for me...

Meanwhile over on KFAB this week Travis Justice is filling in for Chris Baker. I really miss having Travis on the local radio.

Bob is still staying with the parent company I believe. He is going to a Waterloo Ia area station after coming here from Cedar Rapids.

http://www.kcrg.com/content/news/Bob-Br ... 71921.html
WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - A recognizable voice is returning to radio in Eastern Iowa but on a new station.
Bob Bruce will begin broadcasting on News/Talk 1540 KXEL out of Waterloo next month. "The Bob Bruce Radio Experience" will air from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, talking about local issues and events with interviews with key news figures.
Bruce had broadcast for years on AM 600 WMT Radio out of Cedar Rapids before leaving earlier this year for a job in Omaha.
The Decorah native has hosted radio programs in his home state for the past 15 years.

Still prefer Becka to Baker. I haven't missed TJ for a minute, however.

I don't mind Baker, but I can understand why people might not care for him as a radio host.

Just for diversity of opinion, I will take Baker over Becka all the time. Becka is so difficult to listen to regardless whether its an issue I agree or disagree with him. We turn down the volume when we stumble onto him during Fox 42 News.
My son got a 27 on his ACT. No this score is not as high as what Jeff's son achieved. But one has to remember the paternal gene-pool my son has to overcome. On a PGPAB [Paternal Gene-Pool Adjusted Basis], my son's score is a 37 and Jeff's son's PGPAB ACT score is 19.

Baker is OK, but really predictable and a complete stranger to nuance.
