Tonight's moon

Post by S33 »

What's up with the moon tonight? Looks like a repetitive eclipse. I've seen it disappear and reappear at least 3 times now. No clouds in the sky, and the stars around the moon disappear, too.

(I don't know anything about these celestial events, sorry if this sounds stupid)

Nope, not clouds, you can see the thumbnail of the moon become completely covered and uncovered, several times now.

Doesn't seem relevant but Venus is visible tonight with the Cresent moon.

Must have stumbled into some really good drugs. Seriously, though, the coolest moon I've ever seen.

Somewhere on a distant planet they are using a large telescope to locate habitable planets. Suddenly one they thought might be suitable just winked out and has been scratched from the list.

It seemed like it took forever for the thing to completely go red. The talking heads said it should have been completely covered by 9:15 our time, but at 9:45 I could still see a teeny white spot in there on the right below the center line.

I took these out in the back yard handheld. We had an excellent view. Probably the clearest moon eclipse I've ever seen.

Was debating on even posting this because the quality is not up to my standards, must have had too much art fair over the weekend because I was definitely not on my game last night. The dark spots on the moon should have way more definition than this...

Far better than the best cell phone photos I have seen. But most folks don't have the higher level equipment that you typically use.
