YIKES! I can't believe this happened! Sounds like a random act of violence. I hope this isn't the start of a trend in DTO

Aren't incidents like this pretty much a foregone conclusion on any given night in the Old Market?

The crowd has gotten noticeably rougher over recent years. Time to start charging covers again.

That is one of the worst written articles I have read in a long time. Was the second victim and Wordekemper together hard to tell? "Police discovered him lying in the street" except they didn't discover him because people called Police and were gathered around him. "Someone" started punching him? That is the best description they have, no information on gender, age, size, or race? Was the "someone" a stranger or was the "someone" a person they interacted with in the bar?

If you are downtown late at night you better have your big boy pants on because it can get ugly real fast. Same as it ever was.

I usually opt for my little girl pants, as they show off the prominence of my bulge much better.

I'm not staring, I'm merely admiring.

I lived downtown for 6 years ending in 2014 and I never experienced or saw ANY violence or crime beyond prostitution and pan handling. I'm appalled and shocked that this happened, even late at night this was NOT commonplace when I lived downtown.

This surprises me. I'm not saying it's untrue, but it surprises me.

Over the course of the last 5-10 years, I've witnessed countless fights. Granted, they almost always happen between midnight and close, or even after close as people walk to after hour parties or to get food.

I've also had some thug think he was going to mug me I n the parking garage by American national bank. he was unsuccessful and was probably sore for a few days afterward (not to brag or anything lol)

One of my buddies is a relatively new OPD deputy and he hates working the old market just because of the stupid bar drama and fights.

I don't go out much anymore, as I have a family, but I think the best places to get a fight are Parliament and a bar just across the street, a little to the west. (I forget the name of that dump)

I've also seen some fights outside of Barry O's/Stadium Club/T Henrey's block

Now that Maria Sangria and the O Lounge are done for, I wonder if some of the drama and associated trash have decreased somewhat.

It's always late at night but there have been several reported incidents of violence in downtown over the last few years. Didn't the one classified as the hate crime just go to trial recently?

Attempted to. The piece of |expletive| kept skipping his hearings.
