Local Music Scene Sprouting Anew, but Different

Fans are still jamming, but now it's down the street at a new venue called Slammers...

"It will most likely become good venue for local bands,” said Amanda Reub. One local music venue that is not going anywhere is Sokol Hall and Sokol Underground...

"We've had Music Box close, Junction close--we have had everything close but something will probably sprout back up,” said Leibowitz. Leibowitz blames so many closings on lack of money. Leibowitz said, "It is tough to make money in this business."...

As a side note, the Omaha city council has approved a new nightclub run by Saddle Creek records in northeast Omaha. It will fit about 500 people and should open by next fall.
