Lawmakers feel urgency, futility

Twenty of Nebraska's 49 lawmakers are starting the final 60 days of their legislative careers as the 2006 Legislature convenes today in Lincoln... A total of 414 bills introduced last year will carry over into this session. Another 400 to 500 could be introduced this year, said Joanne Pepperl, head of the Legislature's bill drafting office.
