Watching TV yesterday I saw a feed the children commercial and they had a semi truck driving with the Capital building in the background. THe company was based out of Oklahoma though but it was cool to see Lincoln.

I saw that! Couldn't see much of it because of his giant head though.

That's it.  I'm now marking every picture I post with my website.  Enjoy the traffic.  Where's the puppy?

Interesting.  They went to the trouble of stealing it, renaming and posting it on their own servers...

...but didn't bother to crop out your URL?

Actually, they asked permission which usually means they are going to crop out your URL.  Trust my I am not complaining, I will take the spike on the website traffic bar graph today!

This is pretty huge and awesome, and doesn't seem to be getting much attention over in General Discussion.

ABC Nightline segment this evening talking about holiday airline travel tips... focused on 'getting to Omaha' as their example.

Kayak rep asked ABC correspondent ... "Why Omaha?"... "because it's a great place", he replied (smirking a little).

So do we put this one in the 'negative publicity' column?

CNN had a video of "Omaha" on over lunch today. They showed what appeared to be a rural dirt road with a truck driving through heavy snow blowing around. They said Omaha about a million times but kept showing a rural road that could have been anywhere but Omaha.

Dunno if this has been posted yet, but at least its more upbeat than the tap-water thing...

In the new NBC show Sing Off, one of the eight groups, "Solo" is from Omaha. The word Omaha has also briefly shown in advertisements for the show.

The way the guy on the right in the "Solo" interview talks about Omaha doesn't really come off right and sounds kind of dumb.

And YIKES about the tap water!

Omaha Article in "Where to Retire" magazine

Post by StreetsOfOmaha »

Omaha is featured in the current issue of Where to Retire magazine. I came across it because an issue was forwarded to us, as my associate, Ben Proctor, was prominently interviewed in the piece, which focused on the Riverfront as well as Downtown

Here are two scans, since I couldn't find it online.

That is really cool Brad... although subjected to those conditions... I'm surprised it didn't burst into flames.

I was watching the Daily Show (I think?) a while ago and Hugh Grant was on promoting his new movie Did You Hear About the Morgans? They showed a clip where the Morgans were talking to their host family or whatever (they're in the witness protection program) in Wyoming and the host family is telling them about their kids. The following dialog takes place:

"And our daughter married [some guy] and they moved to the big city"
"he took her to Omaha"
"....the big city?"
"Omaha"

imdb.com currently has this movie rated at 2.5 stars out of 10, which is almost unheard of, so I can imagine that virtually no one will see it.

I'm guessing everyone missed ABC's World News Tonight last night when they were in downtown Omaha? No biggy, just talking about our lovely weather and broke roads dept. budget.

New penguin chicks at the zoo made ABC national news... good to hear animal stories from somewhere other than Germany for once!

Haha. That's an old one.

Definitely rooted in out-of-date stereotypes, but funny nonetheless.

I'd love to invite him to visit me in Detroit.  The truth is that I find Detroiters to be generally very friendly, similar to my experience living in Omaha.  In town interstate speed limits are 70mph, so you do have to get used to speeding up to merge.  It can be noisy, but not from the cows, whom I find can be noisy.

The funny thing is that there have been many outstate Nebraskans who have gone on to run multinational corporations in such cities as New York, L.A., Tokyo, etc.

On the other hand, everything's up to date in Kansas City.  (My nephew was in a production of Oklahoma last week)

I'd sell tickets to see the guy in the story hang out at the Max for a while.

I checked with my HR dept.  Of our 38 Omaha employees at least 22 came from towns smaller than Omaha & Lincoln.  It's a regular Corrputatorium!
