Next week on Channel 6, we'll speak with convicted car thieves who will give you tips on how to keep your car from being broken into.

If you need to contact Channel 6 by phone in the immediate future, you'll have to call a temporary number. A "cabling issue" has knocked out phone service to the station.

Not that its acceptable, but I wonder how much of the work on these stations is automated. Â Someone probably forgot to turn the auto programing off. Â I have done Radio several times in the past year and almost all of the show starts and stops and the hard breaks are all automated.jessep28 wrote:I'm sure KMTV doesn't feel so bad now for cutting off the end of the Oscars earlier this year.Brad wrote:Apparently WOWT cut off the Olympics tonight...

It is a good thing you have never mispronounced anything at all. Â I get that this is his job but it is live and it will happen to everyone. Â Just be glad it is still local and not canned and shipped in to the local station from a "news factory" located many miles from local where it is not a mispronunciation built rather no understating of the local names of town, streets, businesses etc. that get butchered every time of the few times I catch a bit of it.
For the record NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER !!!!!!!

I mispronounce all the time. Â My problem is that the state of the art in television news is the hiring of the lowest common denominator. Â I've met John Nicely & he is a very nice person. Â He is also not a journalist. Â He is a talking head. Â I doubt he has ever written his own copy or done any of his own research for a story. Â He is not unique of course and that's the saddest part of it.nebugeater wrote:It is a good thing you have never mispronounced anything at all. On KMTV they would have been mistaken as the anchor!

Channel 6 tried the experiment, putting more than a dozen raw cookie dough balls in the back window of a car. It was placed there about 3:00 pm and left there for several hours. Temperatures inside the car read almost 200 degrees at times. The surface of the cookies seemed fully cooked, but the inside wasn’t.
Thanks WOWT, we were all curious   .Channel 6 also tried baking a cookie, butter, ground beef and an egg on the concrete. Its surface temperature was 130 degrees. The butter melted in 10 minutes, the egg didn’t cook and the ground beef died out.
Back when I was in college we would do cookies on a bake sheet above a lamp. It did work. Kind of like the EZ-Bake Oven, if anyone remembers those.iamjacobm wrote:Channel 6 tried the experiment, putting more than a dozen raw cookie dough balls in the back window of a car.
When I was very young, I remember some kids trying to fry an egg on a hot asphalt parking lot. IIRC, it didn't work.Channel 6 also tried baking a cookie, butter, ground beef and an egg on the concrete. Its surface temperature was 130 degrees. Should we laugh or cry?
For the past day Channel Sux has advertised that they would carry the implosion of the Rosenblatt Press Box live on TV at 7 am. They played it up all during the morning news, with cut ins during the show.
Well, at about 6:57 they cut to commercials, and I switched to Channel 7, in time to hear the 1 Minute whistle, and then Boom, down came the structure. I switched back to Channel Sux and they were still running a commercial. Then the news returned with an apology of sorts for not being able to bring the implosion, but a promise it would be shown later.
I went on to work, with a chuckle. But this evening at 6 pm I watched John Knicely read a story about the implosion, with a video of a spectator describing his memories of Rosenblatt as dust settled across the background of the shot. No video of the implosion was shown. Only later on in the newscast, after the weather, did they finally show the implosion, completely separate from the story.
The head just spins. Is this a high school TV station?
