Lol, thanks!Coyote wrote:Here are a few from the weekend to intrigue you before Brad posts his epic shots:
Good shots. The composition looks good all of them. However, did you do different or change after the first morning? The first two shots seem to have a different white balance or color settings. I like the color of the last 4 better than the first two.

Yesterday during the Art Fair at Aksarben, a pair of Bald Eagles was circling around. They were up fairly high, just sort of cruising around. Must have been on a "Sunday Drive".
Never seen any in the middle of Omaha, but since its not migrations season, they must be a local pair from somewhere in the area.

Saw Three Pelicans today at the Maple Creek Recreation Area, and also a Bald Eagle flying around in Norfolk!

SIX whoopers on the Platte River in Merrick County, a few miles east of Grand Island.

About half a mile or so away, I took 150 shots with various settings with 500mm, on a tripod with mirror lockup and remote and handheld firing by hand. Didn't matter... just too darned far away for anything frameworthy, but it's still a heck of a hand full of receipts for an amazing experience!

More on the Whooping Cranes at Hupp WMA

Joel Jorgensen, Nebraskaland wrote:The six Whooping Cranes at Father Hupp Wildlife Management Area (WMA), Thayer County, seem to be enjoying this WMA and its wetland. These birds likely first arrived at this site late in the day on Friday, 13 November, and they remain present Thanksgiving (26 November), even as winter weather settles into Nebraska. This means these birds’ stay is approaching two weeks, which is a relatively long migratory stopover for Whoopers.
