Anhydrous ammonia plant coming to Geneva
GREG SCELLIN, Signal Editor wrote:The Geneva City Council opened and closed four Public Hearings at its regularly-scheduled meeting last week that all dealt with zoning changes and annexation proceedings to allow the Omaha-based Tetrad Corporation to construct a fertilizer manufacturing facility on farm ground previously owned by Robert and Kay Betka and Irene E. Betka of Exeter. Tetrad has purchased the 122 acres of farm ground, which is located just north of R Street across from Certified Truck & Trailer Repair, in extreme northeast Geneva, with intentions to build an anhydrous ammonia manufacturing plant.

This will be the first project of this type for Tetrad, which was founded by W. David Scott, who is the Omaha company’s chairman of the board, and has former Husker football All-American Zach Wiegert, as a co-founder and CEO. Four executives representing Tetrad were at the December 7 Geneva City Council meeting. The quartet said the single-family owned company is a long-term investor and likes to invest in agriculture-related ventures. Tetrad currently operates a large cow/calf operation in Wyoming among other investment holdings.
