Had to run up to Pisga, IA on Sunday. When you take the highway from Missouri Valley or Mondaimond, and you turn on the highway to Pisga, you parallel the bluffs for a while before turning east in to the bluffs. Not far after I got in to the bluffs, a Bald Eagle was flying about 5 feet off the ground, parallel to the road. Probably closes I have ever been to a wild eagle.

I also saw the local pair by their nest south west of Logan, IA, they are usually around that area if not in the nest.

Also saw one flying solo just north of CB.

Still not seeing any at Manawa.

I got a text photo the other day of two in a tree by the hot shops in North Downtown.

Saw two Bald Eagles soaring way high in the air over the Mormon Bridge this morning and then another soaring much Lower near Gallup and the Pedestrian Bridge. They were not even moving their wings at all, just gliding in big circles, such a cool sight!

Made a big loop today.

Carter Lake - No Eagles
NP Dodge Park - No Eagles
Boyer Chute - Closed for hunting
DeSoto Bend - One eagle observed, but I know there are a nesting pair. Most of the preserve is closed for hunting.
Honey Creek - No Eagles, but the nest is still there
Lake Manawa - 2 eagles (Photos later)
Pacific Juncion - No Eagles

According to the DeSoto Bend FB Page the nesting Pair of eagles had their next blown away the other day, but they said they started rebuilding almost immediately, as of today, the new nest looked complete to me from what I could see.

It is really really cool being able to see bald eagles in and around Omaha.

That's impressive.

I wonder what's causing this spike in nesting for the Bald Eagle in Nebraska the past couple of years :?: ...
