Ok, here's an actual "rumor" for the thread. Tonight, at a wedding reception, a friend of mine asked me what I knew about Aksarben coming to Grand Island?
Was news to me, so I asked him in what context did he hear something. He said that he heard that Fonner Park will make an announcement later this month, but didn't know what the announcement would be and that's why he was asking me. Right now, a lot of Aksarben racing memorabilia is on permanent loan to the racing museum in the Fonner Concourse, so it probably isn't that.
Let the speculation begin...

That'll be just as the State Fair is ending so it'll be a good month for Grand Island hotels/motels. The fair ends Sept. 4th so there will be 3 weeks to recover a little before this stock show begins. Growth is good.

Actually, Husker Harvest Days falls in the middle of that three weeks too. It'll fill hotel rooms from Aurora to Kearney.

DOn't forget Husker harvest day that draw a lot of people to the area. This year the dates are Sept 12 - 14

First of all I've never herd of this thing and second of all get it out of here Omaha stopped thinking stock animals were sexy at the turn of the 20th century.
