Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge(Squaw Creek)

One of our beautiful and somewhat local Wildlife Refuges gets a new name.

Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge
Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge wrote:After thoughtful discussion and research with local stakeholders, and out of respect for agency policy against the use of derogatory language, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director officially changed the name of Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge to Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge. It is important that all federal lands within the National Wildlife Refuge System are respectful to all cultural and ethnic groups. Learn more: http://go.usa.gov/x9U4y

Just returned from a weekend in KC, and wanted to make a brief stopover here, since I haven't been there before. Google Maps was already updated, which confused me at first, until I found the announcement.

Bird-wise, it was quite crowded but not very active at about 1pm. Saw three Bald Eagle nests with owners in residence.
