2017 Severe Weather Thread

This morning's tornado drill means Severe Weather Season is right around the corner.

I received a home weather station for Christmas and I got it all installed this week just in time for the rain. Its an AcuRite 5 in 1 Home weather station. The Station (pictured below) is mounted up on my roof and it has a 300' wireless communication rage to the base. The base is setup inside my house by my computer and is connected to my computer with USB. The computer is keeping it real time connected to the web. I can view the station information anywhere in the wold on computer or smart phone. Below are some screen shots of the smart phone interface.

1. Station up on the roof (i need an extension to get it up a little further from the roof).

That is pretty nice. Able to get an accurate read on temp, wind and precip.

I also still use the Radar Scope. It has lots of useful tools for people that are really in to weather. Much more advanced the the pretty colors on a map that most radars apps offer. The app does cost $9.99, but its worth every penny. I haven't pulled the trigger yet to upgrade to the pro version which is an additional $9.99 a year.

Yeah, and to see the changes on the graph is fun too.

I really like the electronic rain gauge because I don't have to wait until the storm is over to go see what I got. Its also nice seeing what time the rain stated too.

OK Brad
Here is the challenge. This guy has a home weather station that you need to match. He is near Gretna and Tiberon. A few miles from where I live so I look at this all the time. Take a look at the view count his web page has for this.

Wow, thats cool. Lots of information there!

I have a little more information on my Weather Underground page, but not all that. I don't have a web-camera wither, at least not wired up to WU.

Approx. how much are those weather stations? I would love to have something like that. Are they easy to set up?

This was a Christmas Gift, but I know it came from Costco. Looks like amazon has this one for $80. Super easy to setup and also really easy to get setup on weather underground as well.

Went to Spootter training for Douglas Co last week. My photo of Virga made the section on "Things that look like a funnel, but are not."

Considering we both spent more money on beer this past weekend, $80.00 for a weather station is a breeze :;): ...

And I purchased another KBS 4 pack yesterday..

Now I've got to hunt for Waldo. I have a feeling I'm going to be SOL getting my hands on it for a second straight year.. :lafcry: having to work all day, lol..

Maybe I'll invest in a weather station after all...
