Park Fair Mall
Hey everybody....greetings from the FURNACE, (Phoenix), I haven't posted in awhile, but have continued admiring this site and I love it. My question is that I'm wondering if anyone knows of any future plans for the Park Fair Mall on 16th st?? I remember that shopping center when it was first built, and I watched it go through a long and miserable death before I moved away from Omaha. I just saw the renderings for the Lerner Building and was very impressed by that, now I just wonder if there's any revival or demolition plans for the Park Fair?? And I, like a lot of others on here think Omaha needs at least 2 more high rise skyscrapers....!! Maybe one day.....

I don't think there are any active plans for the building. Of course I would favor demolition to make way for new construction. As 16th Street has its rebirth that property is going to be very valuable. Park Fair is an absolute disaster. I think Eric and I both would love to see a new highrise residential building with retail on the bottom few floors.

Does anyone have photos of the inside of the mall during its heyday?

Is this a record for thread revival?
On topic: what is the Park Fair Mall? I've never heard of it.

Blurb about it in the article. Basically I believe it was part of Central Park Plaza at one point as retail space, now a parking garage

I started a similar thread awhile back. There were no responses.

Re: Park Fair Mall
There was a Walgreens there and several stores. There was a women's clothing store on the second floor. A food court on the ground floor. Several attempts at stores on the ground floor. When I lived on 16th, I would use the Walgreens and get lunch on Saturdays there.Brad wrote:Where the Walgreens was, correct?SaveOmaha wrote:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Park_PlazaSeth wrote:Is this a record for thread revival?

I moved back in 91 and it was largely empty then.
