Water Park in Columbus

Post by jcitta »

The city of Columbus has just passed bill allowing a water park to be built. It will be built in the middle of the Pawnee Park lagoon and will feature a number of different slides. I think this is very good for the town of columbus. It is growing pretty rapidly recently, it just needs more retail than what it has.

Is it going to include a wave pool or a lazy river? How big is the park suppose to be?

Proposals call for the water plex to be built on the island south of the defunct Pawnee Park pool. The old location will become a parking lot with access to the new swimming area by a walkway over the lagoon. Plans call for the lagoon to be cleaned up and treated with aerators to produce a park-like setting.

Among the offerings at the proposed Columbus Family Water Plex will be an approximately 400-foot lazy river, and four slides: an open flume slide, an inner tube slide, a swirl bowl slide, and either a closed flume slide or a speed slide. All of the slides would have different heights and speeds.

There will also be wave canopies at two separate locations. These are shade structures, instead of traditional round umbrellas, that will look like sails.

A splash pad will have zero-depth entry, with its features designed for younger children. In addition, there will be a sand play area, a large swimming area with zero-depth entry going to 5 feet, a lily pad floating water walk and a full-service food court.

There will be decks, lounge chaises, grassy areas and picnic tables, both in the shade and in the sun.

All of the water at the facility would be heated.

The only part of it that I do not agree with is that they are not building a normal pool with it, although there are other public pools in the city as well. I know they are leaving extra room for expansion of the park as well.
