New Things In Fremont
I was in Fremont last night and noticed a few "coming soon" signs that were not there to the best of my knowledge; they were not up as recently as a few days ago when I passed through.
To the east of Wal-Mart there are signs up that say future home of Menards. Looks like the Menards by Elkhorn isn't the only one that is going to be built soon. This is interesting because a few years ago when Menards moved into Fremont they were not able to get a permit for a lumber yard. I have not seen anything official but the rumors were that the powers to be in Fremont had an interest in the lumber yard that was there. They went in to what was the old Wal-Mart and if you ever go in there you will se that they only have a very small amount of lumber and it is all indoors on shelves. It’s not a lumber yard at all. This status must have changed for them to be building new.
The old Hy-Vee, to the West of Wal-Mart, that has been empty since Hy-Vee built a new store by the "mall" (used that term loosely) has a sign in front of it that this is the future home of TSC ( Tractor Supply Company). There is construction dumpsters in front of it and dirt work going on, on the East side of the building. It is good to see something happening there. With Walgreens moving out to a new store, Hy-Vee, moved, and Menards on their way to build new digs it would leave this strip center almost bare.
The Sonic and Lazlo’s on the other side of the highway are both now open as has been stated before. There is dirt work being done to the west of Applebee's and it looks like something is being built there too soon.
All in all a pretty bury time for the East side of Fremont.

Depends on what part of Fremont you want to get to. If you want off 275 at 36 to take Old 275 to the Lariat to enjoy some crackwhore strippers and meth, you're construction free (well, there are some barrels along the way, but all the lanes are open). There's all kinds of contruction immediately north of that.

Stable genius.
There is construction from south of Fremont to West of Hooper. Dodge to south of highway 36 is done, but some shoulder work/grading still needs to be done.
Wasn't the Lariat torn down a few years ago?

Wishful thinking. Still alive and thriving, even after the bust:Brad wrote:Wasn't the Lariat torn down a few years ago?

Former China Moon building gets new life
Fremont Tribune wrote:Motorists driving through one of Fremont’s busiest intersections may have seen signs of construction at the former China Moon at East 23rd and Clarkson streets, but the former site of a Chinese buffet restaurant won’t be offering the same cuisine.
Fremont director of public works Clark Boschult said a new mini mall-type facility at the site will offer a setting closer to a food court in much of what was the China Moon’s dining room area. Plans relayed to city staff about the new development, called Fremont Crossing, are to have the commons area be accessible from three businesses.
Jason Ruegg from Lund Co. in Omaha confirmed that a new Starbucks location will be one of the three new businesses there. A second site will be a retail company, but Ruegg said he didn’t want to give details about the company yet.
