18.5 to 24.9 is in the normal range, so your 23.0 isn't bad Coyote.

Well I actually think that their formula is bogus. I am 6'1" and weigh 175. My body fat would be a better indicator to judge my F-ness. At one point in my life (when I was a so called fitness specialist) it was a nice 6% - I hate to see what it is now but not more than 14% - but to get a reading you can't use a formula. Theoretically I could be 6'1" and 185 with a body fat of 6% and according to this formula I would be overweight.

I think all those linemen at the colleges like UNL are throwing off the averages. I mean 6'1" 305 pounds = BMI 40.2 :shock:


I think the BMI is kind of off base at different points --- I am 6'4 and i could weigh 155 lbs and still be in the average range. I was there a long time ago and i was damn skinny.

Yeah, the BMI is about as valid as the old food pyramid that said everyone should eat exactly the same amount every day. 2000 calories, whether you were 6'1 and 220 or 5'3 and 110. Makes no sense.
