Aeroplane flight history in Nebraska

Post by w8ing »

I was taking a drive in the country last week. On my way back to town I noticed the following sign on 230th north of Hwy 64 (Maple St.)

Baysdorfer wasn't on wikipedia so I did a google search for more info on him and came across some links that may be of interest to some of you.

Nebraska aviation council

From aero-news network, an obit for Anna Boettger who died last year at age 105 and was the last surviving witness of Baysdorfer's flight.

Rudder, stick and throttle: Research and Reminiscences on Flying in Nebraska - a book written by Robert E. Adwers who is the president of the aero club mentioned on the plaque.

That plaque insinuates that there was a non-Nebraskan who made a successful flight in Nebraska before this guy. :what:
