Windmills in Columbus

COLUMBUS - Katana Summit LLC - a partnership of Katana Industries Inc. of Ephrata, Wash., and Sumitomo Corporation of Tokyo, Japan - has purchased buildings and land in Columbus to manufacture tubular wind towers.

The project will encompass 75 acres and more than 250,000 square foot of building space. Plans call for manufacturing to begin by March of 2008.
The firm plans to employ 100-120 workers in Columbus at full production during 2008. Recruitment of employees will begin in the fall.

A good get for Columbus.  There is still quite a bit of construction happening on the east side of town....a couple of new strip malls and Menards is building a new store as well.  The new North bypass is being built near that area as well.

Good for Columbus! They keep getting more and more manufacturing jobs. Good working ethics. One of the few growing communities in Nebraska.

Wow! That is a good get!

Coyote, I understand what you're saying about the stagnated populations of most towns in Nebraska, but I would contend that the cities in Columbus' peer group (15,000 to 50,000) are all doing pretty well.   :;):
