Culver attends wind energy conference in Germany
and from the Des Moines Register...Iowa could see hundreds, perhaps thousands, of new jobs related to wind energy in the next two years, said Gov. Chet Culver.
He's in Europe this week meeting with companies involved in that field.

During his 2006 gubernatorial campaign, Culver pledged to make Iowa the "Silicon Valley" of renewable fuels. . . .
On Europe trip, Culver pitches wind energy jobs
. . .Culver said announcements could be made in the near future about two wind energy projects developing out of the European visit to promote Iowa's efforts in expanding its renewable energy industry.
The announcements aren't related to a proposal by an American company to locate a turbine factory in Newton, Culver said. . . .
Culver said that Iowa now is focusing on attracting makers of turbine components such as gear boxes and bearings, too, to put suppliers in close proximity to turbine makers. . . .
