Unemployment numbers dip
The latest report from the state Department of Labor shows Nebraskans found more jobs in October.
While the nation's unemployment rate edged up one-tenth of a percentage point, to 5.5 percent, Nebraska's unemployment rate dropped by two-tenths of a percentage point to 3.5 percent in October.
Both the national and state unemployment rates were five-tenths of a percentage point lower than last year's October level.
The agency reported an estimated 957,762 people were employed in Nebraska in October, about 2,245 more workers than in September.

It might be equally interesting to know our rate of job creation as compared with other states. Â Sometimes/often states with large population growth rates will experience fairly high unemployment rates, as many people flock to the state in search of employment. Â If no one is moving to a state, the unemployment rate may be relatively lower, as there is little competition for jobs. Â It also may lead to fewer employers looking to add jobs in a state with low unemployment. Â Sort of a glass being half full and half empty at the same time.
