Old Market Casbah rocks
John Keenan WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:The store opened six weeks ago, and Moussa said he is pleased with the support he has received from friends and other Old Market businesses. He needed merchandise for his new store, Old Market Casbah, which he was designing as a touch of Morocco in the intimate Old Market Passageway. Could mom take a trip to the bazaars and see if she could find some nice things to ship back to Omaha? “She has exquisite taste,” he said.

Last week, Moussa sat at an “Ali Baba” tea table in his 1,000-square-foot store, brewing mint tea and pointing out some of the finds his mother recently shipped from Morocco: a solid-beech, hand-carved armoire; vases and tea sets; elaborately framed mirrors; simple, colorful throws. “Accent pieces,” as Moussa calls them.

Wow. Sounds really interesting.

What Passageway?

Michaela Saunders WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:There's a touch of the Mediterranean in the Old Market Passageway. At least for another few weeks.

Adil Moussa opened Old Market Casbah in April. Its doors will close by mid-February. Moussa, a 38-year-old market research analyst and consultant, is moving to Florida later this winter.
Michaela Saunders WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:Moussa's biggest challenge, he said, was his Old Market location.

The historic warehouse district, home to bars, restaurants and shops, is one of the city's most popular destinations. But Moussa said foot traffic can be sparse in the Old Market Passageway, nestled beneath and behind shops on Howard Street, where his store is located.

“It's one of the most beautiful places in Omaha,” Moussa said. But in some cases “even people who have lived in Omaha don't know there is a Passageway.”
