Publicly traded companies based in Omaha.

Post by MrPoloShirt »

Can anyone name the publicly trade companies based here in Omaha (or in the Omaha metro)?

Here are the ones I can gather.

Ballantyne Strong, Inc (AMEX: BTN )
Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A, NYSE: BRK.B)
ConAgra Foods, Inc. (NYSE: CAG)
First National of Nebraska (Pinksheet:  FINN)
Gordmans Stores, Inc. (NasdaqGS: GMAN )
Lindsay Corporation (NYSE: LNN)
TD Ameritrade  (NASDAQ: AMTD)
Union Pacific Railroad (NYSE: UNP)
Valmont Industries, Inc. (NYSE: VMI )
Werner Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ: WERN)

Please let me know of any that I may have missed.

It's on my list.  They're officially known as "TD Ameritrade."

Ok, then add Wesco (NYSE: WCC) to Omaha's profile. Berkshire owns 80+% of that corporation. They may be officially headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, but since Berkshire is the majority shareholder, it is now an Omaha company. :;):

**News ticker alert** Omaha now has, with the addition of Wesco, 6 fortune 500 companies.

Ummm, I don't think 100% owned subsidiaries count.

Speaking of Berkshire, I realize Buffet's the face of the company and it needs no marketing, but it almost looks as though they were trying for the most antiquated website of today. It looks like the old Geocities personal web pages...

That was kind of the point.  I think we're stretching a little bit to include Berkshire holdings in the list for Nebraska.
