Millard Refrigerated Services sold

Post by NovakOmaha »

They just moved their offices into Sterling Ridge. Now they have been sold to a California company. I wonder what will happen, ultimately, to the Omaha office. It really could go either way. Omaha is more centralized but the purchaser seems to be doing ok being in California. Hey, Apple did ok with a California office.

Here's the story:

That is too bad. Wonder if they will keep their new offices and wonder if this was a family squabble or if the next generation just wasn't into running the business.

Hes a very young guy that probably has lots of other things to do with his money (lots of it now).
Interestingly, they were working on getting their old site into the Millard CRA.

From the story

And although the 51-year-old Millard Refrigerated brand built by Larry Larsen may fade, the company’s legacy should remain visible in Omaha.

“We look forward to being part of the Omaha community for years to come,” Hendricksen said.

You can look at this two ways. If you're cynical you can take this as "We'll keep the warehouses in Omaha but close the offices." Or if you're a hopeful romantic you could read this as "We are moving our headquarters to that new highrise in downtown Omaha". Anyone want odds on which is true? Of course, there is a third option. They could keep some offices in Omaha.

Aren't they partners in Sterling Ridge or at the very least their building at Sterling Ridge? Financial ties at the very least. If not I would guess they had to sign at least a 10+ year lease on a Build to Suit. Those ties at least would keep them here for a while one would think.

Not surprised. Lance Larsen was handed everything he's ever had.
Spoiled brat.
