Can't wait to see who made the lists:

What is new for Best of Omaha™ 2015

All categories are on one page.
The search box on the voting system makes it easy to quickly find a particular category.
You must vote for a minimum of 15 categories.
New - Best of Omaha™ Festival on October 11th.
You can only enter the voting system through a unique link that is emailed to you after registering.
The voting system works best on a desktop or laptop. It is too large for smartphones.

How to vote:

Go to bestofomaha.com or the link a company may have provide you.
Register to vote (previous year's registrations have been deleted).
You will receive an email with a custom unique link for entering the voting system.
If you don't receive this email, check your spam folder.
Click the link, start voting. Vote for at least 15 categories for your vote to be counted.
Did a company give you a "Quick Vote Code" (QVC)? Enter it at any time on the voting page.
You may return as often as you like to modify or add to your ballot.
Take advantage of the offers on the Thank You For Voting page.
Download your "Proof of Voting Certificate" (PoVC) to receive discounts from companies.

Voters get discounts from participating companies.

After you finish voting, you will have an opportunity to download a "Proof of Voting Certificate." There will be a list of companies giving voters a discount when they show their PoVC. In addition, voters may purchase tickets to our upcoming inaugural Best of Omaha™ Festival at a discount, voters can sign up to receive a FREE Best of Omaha™ results issue, and voters can purchase a discounted subscription to Omaha Magazine.

I would say our "Best Of" threads on this forum are way more accurate than that list.

Are not these Best Ofs 'nominated' by local people, who stuff the ballots as a marketing scheme?

This years "Best of Omaha" consists of 8 categories: Dining, Family, Health and Beauty, Household, Nightlife, Retail, Services, and Transportation. Each category has numerous subcategories which do not give any suggested businesses, but if you have a "Quick Vote Code - optional, provided by a business" you don't need to have a clue who you are voting against. But you need to have at least 15 votes to be a qualified ballot. Looking at the subcategories in Dining:
Appetizers, Bagels, Bakery, Barbecue, Bowl of Soup, Breakfast, Brew Pub, Brick Oven Pizza, Buffet, Burrito, Cake Bakery, Chef in Omaha, Chinese Dining, Coffeehouse, Cupcakes, Deli, Desserts, Donuts, Eastern European Dining, Family Restaurant, Food Truck, French Dining, French Fries, Fried Chicken, Frozen Yogurt, Gourmet Hamburger, Greek Dining, Gyros, Hamburger, Hot Wings, Ice Cream, Indian Dining, Italian Dining, Japanese Dining, Korean Dining, Lunch, Mexican Dining, New Restaurant in 2013, Organic Dining, Outdoor Dining Patio, Pasta, Pastry, Pizza, Prime Rib, Restaurant Beer Selection, Reuben Sandwich, Romantic Restaurant, Salad, Sandwiches, Seafood, Smoothies, Steakhouse, Sunday Brunch, Sushi, Thai Dining, Vietnamese Dining
I wonder how many people, on the top of the head, could fill out 15 businesses, or will just write in anything just to get that one vote to count.
