3 Gavilon executives are out; parent company's disappointed CEO had promised 'dramatic measures'

http://www.omaha.com/money/gavilon-exec ... b5257.html

Scenario 1: New CEO comes in from Portland, Oregon. New CEO hates living in Omaha. New CEO moves headquarters to Portland, Oregon.

Scenario 2: Activist investor forces parent company to make changes. Parent company moves Gavilon headquarters.

Scenario 3: Treehouse foods moves into old Gavilon headquarters after scenario 1 or 2 happens.

As much as these scenarios would blow I cannot fault anyone for moving to Oregon or Chicago for that matter. But thanks for the new building.

Wow I had no idea they were doing so poorly. It's too early to get a read on any of those situations. I have a feeling Marubeni is enough of an activist investor on its own, so I think that option is off the table for now. HQ moves are expensive, and if Gavilon is losing that much, an HQ move wouldn't be a good idea until they start improving or Marubeni sells off a few parts of Gavilon for quick cash. We'll have to wait and see.

A few months ago a friend that has been there for awhile said when they were part of ConAgra they were buying random companies that did not make sense for the Gavilon business. Now they are working on selling those pieces that they should not have bought in the first place. It sounded like they were smaller locations outside of Omaha and he was not at all worried about Omaha job loss.

Yeah they own grain elevators and co-ops and scales all over the place, at least in the US. I used to work in the IT department as an assistant and I fielded calls from all sorts of weird places and I always wondered why or how we got them.
