Fidelity occupies Federal Reserve space

Post by eomaha »

Fidelity moves into Federal Reserve space

The Omaha office of Fidelity National Insurance Co. began its first day of operations Monday in newly leased space in the Omaha Federal Reserve Bank building, 2201 Farnam St.

The 80 Fidelity employees formerly worked in a Mutual of Omaha building at 3201 Farnam St. The Federal Reserve had vacant space in its building because some jobs functions were transferred to other cities.

Steve Jensen, vice president for Fidelity in Omaha, said the office is one of the company's three main offices and handles customer service, information technology and claims, including some companywide functions.

The home office is in Jacksonville, Fla.

Fidelity took over the Omaha office and hired many former Mutual employees when it acquired the renewal rights to Mutual's property-casualty and flood insurance business last year.

Jensen said Fidelity has a long-term lease on the new space, with an option to renew, and expects the office to remain in Omaha and to grow.

Jeff, where are you getting all this info? You are a wealth of information. Another shot in the arm for downtown.

Sounds like United Way is taking over the space:

United Way of the Midlands will relocate to Federal Reserve Bank building

The green area just between the Rose Theatre and the Federal Reserve building is being fenced and trees have been removed. I guess something will be done there... hopefully is not more surface parking.

A permit from January suggests a 135 stall lot.

Bummer.

However, another surface parking lot it will fit perfectly in that stretch of Farnam street along with all the other surfaces parking lots. It´s curious how Farnam became "Surface parking lots row" all way from "Auto row".

I really enjoyed that green patch, I use to hang out there with my kids in our way home after school. It will be missed.

Wish it could have been developed as well, but it appears the Federal Bank is adding 100 jobs and needed the stalls.
