Omaha World Herald wrote: Great Western will open Missouri office

Great Western Bank of Omaha plans to open its first Missouri office Dec. 10 and is planning a second office in a Kansas suburb of Kansas City, Mo.

Harlan Falk, executive vice president, said the new branch will be in a 2,000-square-foot office in North Kansas City, Mo. The Omaha bank is acquiring the charter of Farmers Bank of Portageville, Mo., and then selling the assets of that bank to First State Bank of Caruthersville, Mo.

Great Western has a branch bank and a corporate office in Kansas City, Kan., and is due to open a new branch office in Shawnee Mission, Kan., in January.

Great Western Bank, one of the largest banks in Nebraska, will close three branches in the Omaha area as it shakes up its presence here.

The Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based bank plans to relocate in March from its current Omaha headquarters at 14545 West Center Road to the Mark office building at 93rd Street and West Dodge Road, where it will also move its local executives and its growing business banking team.

Great Western will close three branches on March 31: locations at 9775 Q St.; at the bank’s local headquarters at 145th and West Center Road; and at Offutt Air Force Base near Bellevue.

The bank plans to build a new branch at 60th Street and Military Avenue to replace its existing branch at 6015 Northwest Radial in the Benson area.

Construction of the new branch is expected to be complete in late 2015, at which point the current Benson branch will be relocated.
