Cato, a women's apparel retailer, will open its second store in Nebraska on Wednesday in the Northwest Centre, North 99th Street and Military Avenue, near the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
The first location in the state, in Kearney, opened in October 2003 at Buffalo Plaza.
Cato is a specialty retailer of value-priced clothing for girls, juniors, misses and plus-size women, according to the company.
A typical store employs eight workers, said spokeswoman Kerry Walter. The Omaha store will have 4,160 square feet.
John Cato, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the Charlotte, N.C.-based company, said in a press release that the store's focus is "on giving our customers new fashions every week, low prices every day."
The Cato Corp. operates more than 1,100 stores in 29 states, including more than 900 Cato stores.

Their strategy seems to be to locate as close to a Walmart as possible (almost all of the store descriptions on the location directory on their website explicitly state... "near Walmart", "across from Walmart", etc).
