Aw damn, I'm sorry, Brad. How the heck did that happen?

Thanks.  When I got married, I had to put some items in a storage unit to make room to combine 2 houses in to one house...

It was totally random.  They broke in to mine an the one next to me.  Crazy |expletive| is, they only took the art and art fair tent!  There was a lawn mower right next to it and its still there!

It's always odd what they steal and what they don't. Maybe they were admirers of your work. And thought they could use the tent for ... recreational purposes?

Anyway, I don't frequent places where fine art is sold but if I do I'll keep an eye peeled. Good luck finding it all.

Only 6 people knew where this storage unit was and all 6 were family...

Could be at random, or someone may have been on to you.

That Sucks!  I'll keep an eye out too!

Most likely not related but someone forwarded me this Craigslist link 4 days ago.  http://omaha.craigslist.org/art/3758073158.html I haven't been of that site for a long, long time.  May be worth your time to check it out for a while.

Thanks, I checked Craig's list a little while ago and saw nothing.

As far as the frames you posted, mine have a slight curve to them, those are flat.

Terrible news to hear...I will keep my eyes open as well.  Not only did they steal copyrighted images but ones that were already a finished product as well.  Hopefully you are able to find them and who stole them.

Assuming the storage unit was within the city limits, if you would rather not let anyone know and have a tip, you can send the information off to Crimestoppers.

Storage Units are Usually covered under your homeowners policy if you own a house, which we have.  However, there are some back doors for the insurance to get out of paying it...

When I got married last fall, I may have not checked the "new" insurance policy very good...

Nice!  Were they able to provide details on who sold it to them?

Yes, I believe the police have a good lead.  Not sure if anything will ever come of it, but they have a name.

Brad, I just read this story on wowt.com and that really sucks.  I'm sorry.  If you want a little insight into the OPD, my car got broken into, the riff raff stole my checkbook and wrote checks all over town cleaning out my entire checking account, equating to grand theft.

Long story short...HyVee has video (and has offered it to the OPD) of the people who were writing and cashing the checks in their stores and the OPD still hasn't done anything about it.  And that was, oh I don't know, two months ago!  My husband and I have done all of the leg-work ourselves, now it's in their hands.

It's unfortunate b/c now I'm completely disenfranchised with the entire process.

However, I hope they find the person that stole your art.  It's one thing to steal money, but quite another to steal someone's art.  Now it's personal.   :;):

Good luck, Brad!

P.S.  I have a friend that works in admin at the OPD and here's some advice he gave me if you can't find anyone to talk to at OPD.  "Call the OPD Front Desk at (402) 444-5818 and ask if your case has been assigned, or call the OPD Criminal Investigations Bureau Directly at (402) 444-5652 and ask them to speak with the detective assigned to your case.?

Thanks.  I have called once and talked to them about some new information I had.  They took my additional information but that's about it.

I do want to Say, so far I have dealt with 3 officers and one detective.  All have been very nice, helpful, and understanding.  Its not the personnel that seems to be the issue, its the process.  When on officer said the would get the report FAXED in right away....  I worried.  Nobody should still be using a fax machine!

We still use a fax machine at work. Some systems never die, just slowly fade away.

They might be required to use a fax machine for legal reasons.

That's the premise with my job. When they first wrote HIPAA, faxing the most common method of quick file transmission. Plus, as far as I know, you can't hack a fax machine like you can email.

They caught 2 guys last night re-handed breaking in to storage units.  Too early to tell of they are connected.

Nothing... I found one print way back when and that's it.  Then I got screwed over by Farmers Insurance!

My Friends at Visa replaced it all and I am just hoping for a good fall art fair season to pay off the bill.

We have been |expletive| over by Farmers Insurance Twice this year... I hope none of you have them!!!

Well I for one would love to buy another photo from you. Even though I messed up when I framed the one I have, I still have one of the BKPB right next to me.
