Lambrecht Chevy auto auction

Post by nebugeater »

On Saturday I drove the 2+ hours to Pierce to see for myself what was taking place at this history making auto auction. My guess at number of people there was a Minimum of 10,000.  The County Sheriffs office reported there estimate at 15,000 and That is probably as good as any guess. Took some pictures and here are a few:

EDIT

Will just post the link to Flickr.

Not sure if something has changed here or at Flickr but the link data that I have been using for a while now has not worked at all here the last few times I have tried to post photos.  IT works like it has always worked here when I post to a couple other board using the exact same data and the data that I used to be able to use here.

Very cool...I watched most of the auction on History Channel last night.  That was a very unique event, glad it happened in Nebraska.

It has been about 24 hours since I put these photos on Flickr.  There are 141 photos in the set.  Flickr tracks views that I can see when I log in under my account  In a little less than 24 hours these 141 photos have had over 21,000 individual views.   Crazy.

I heard one of the cars which sat indoors for the better part of 50 years, sat under part of the roof with a constant leak. To the point where there was a perfect rust hole through the roof and down through the floor, even though the car was hardly driven, with plastic on the seats. really odd

Even though I'm not a big car guy, I wish I could have seen it.

Looks like the auction brought in an estimated 2.8 Million.  These are not official numbers as they were not to be released but a tally of the final bids off of the on line bidding system

http://www.omaha.com/article/20131001/NEWS/131009775
Other numbers, according to Proxibid:

• 30 percent of the total dollar amount spent came via online sales.

• 50 percent of all bids, online and live on-site combined, came via the Internet through Proxibid.com.

• 37 percent of the inventory that was sold went to online buyers.

• 216 of 585 total items that were auctioned were sold online, and 199 of the 216 items were cars.
