Where is Coyote?
This series of pictures is from Nebraska, within an hour of Omaha.

Yes East CB wins #2, it is:EastCB wrote:Is it at the Saunders County Historical Society in Wahoo?
The Wahoo Burlington Depot, a two-story wood frame building on the Ashland-to-Schuyler line, was constructed in 1886, several months before the railroad's tracks were completed in 1887. Originally owned by the Omaha and North Platte Railroad Company, it was leased to the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in 1886, then deeded to the C.B.&Q. in 1908. It was the last depot constructed in Wahoo, joining the Northwestern and Union Pacific depots in providing service to this area of Saunders County. The depot's main floor plan, which provided separate waiting rooms for men and women, is a variation of a nationally used pattern called the "combination" design. The second level was used for agent's living quarters.
Re: Where is Coyote?
Is that Memphis Post Office in Wahoo? I have gone to Memphis State Park quite a bit and have never seen that.

Re: Where is Coyote?
Back in the Railroad glory days, Wahoo was serviced by Three Different Railroads!
The Union Pacific Ran from East To West
The Chicago and North Western ran North to South
The Chicago Burlington and Quincy ran North East to South West.

Eastcb wins #3. Since you probably found the page I was using for my routing, you might as well explain th significance of this structure....
Re: Where is Coyote?
I don't know too much about it. I am retired and work a few days a month for a friend in Wahoo and get out in the little towns around there quite a bit.

Re: Where is Coyote?
Ok...
Located in Ithaca, this grain elevator was constructed c. 1890. Used to store grain that would be hauled to market by train, the early elevators, such as the Old Ithaca Grain Elevator, were built of wood and often covered with tin. Because of the construction materials they were susceptible to fire and limited in capacity. As a result concrete elevators, which lacked both of these disadvantages, soon replaced the earlier versions. The result was a steady decline in the number of wooden elevators as they fell into disrepair. Consequently, the Old Ithaca Grain Elevator is an excellent example of a dwindling resource that retains a high degree of historic integrity.

Re: Where is Coyote?
Looks like an old jail. Somewhere in Otoe, Nemeha or Richardson counties, maybe? Just because they are some of the earliest settled?
Re: Where is Coyote?
I have no idea, but thanks for getting back to posting these!!!!

Re: Where is Coyote?
I believe it was the first building in this given town, and yes, it was the local jail...

Re: Where is Coyote?
Well one thing is for sure.. you sure are dedicated!
This has been pretty neat so far Coyote.. Really puts an end to the argument that Nebraska is anything but beautiful to the outsiders. Also makes you think how bad@ss the Omaha area was back in the early 1900's when railroads ruled the world.

Re: Where is Coyote?
EastCB gets it again:
Constructed c.1916 this one-room jail is located in Union. The Union Jail is significant because it represents a period in the community's history when local officials thought the town required such a facility in order to maintain law and order. Since there was no marshal's office or city hall in which the jail could be located, the village decided to construct a freestanding structure. The establishment of this jail as the only municipal building in Union reinforces the village's concern for public safety.
Re: Where is Coyote?
Now that I am retired, I really enjoy having the time to explore the area. Am an Iowa native but after graduating from ISU lived in central and eastern Nebraska for 30 years before returning to Iowa. I love both states!!!
Re: Where is Coyote?
That kind of reminds me of Patagonia down in South America.
