Sounds like we have a couple more weeks of color yet to come too!Trees have received abundant moisture this year, colors have begun popping, and the weather promises to provide the right mix of warm days and cool nights needed to bring out a robust show. Even the prairies are putting on their coat of burnished browns and yellows.

Re: 2014 Fall Foliage Photos
The oaks that were brown could be burr oak. They usually don't have much fall color. Sometimes a little yellow but mostly brown,Brad wrote:Looks like there is a little color at Preparation Canyon, but not a lot. I saw a little of that yesterday too. Some of the Oaks over by the Little Sioux Boyscout camp were all brown. I wonder if some of the valley's got really cold one night?

Great shots,Brad. Today I went south to Mineola and then Glenwood. The colors were outstanding. In Glenwood, the trees were just wonderful. So much color!!
Re: 2014 Fall Foliage Photos
My wife and I went down that way too. We went to Pony Creek Lake and also Hill Lake both near highway 34.EastCB wrote:Great shots,Brad. Today I went south to Mineola and then Glenwood. The colors were outstanding. In Glenwood, the trees were just wonderful. So much color!!

Re: 2014 Fall Foliage Photos
I thought about pony creek lake but didn't do it this time. I think this is one of the best years for fall color.
Re: 2014 Fall Foliage Photos
I wish tomorrow wasn't Monday... I really want to get out more before all the trees loose their leaves!
From Today south of Omaha.
1. Pony Creek Lake. Not the best light, but this could be a nice morning shot.
2. Also Pony Creek Lake. Still not the best light, but this could be a nice morning shot.
3. Small Tributary leading in to Pony Creek Lake.
4. Awesome Red Poison Oak down at Hill Lake.
5. North of Pacific Junction Iowa.

Re: 2014 Fall Foliage Photos
I really like those first two. Great view of the river and the fall foliage. Reminds me of the Mississippi River at the Mines of Spain near Dubuque, IA. If I ever get back over that way I will have to take some pictures of it.

Your other two guesses at least had wings. Think of Vantage Points. Famous ones. Ft. Atkinson has none of any river.GRANDPASMUCKER wrote:Fort Atkinson
I will be posting a thread on my favorite points after the next Where's Coyote...
Think Preparation Canyon, Hitchcock, Waubonsie, Indian Caves...

I am going to go with Indian Caves based on some of the other pictures you have posted from there.

Re: 2014 Fall Foliage Photos
No, good guess also... I do have another Vantage Point pic from there, that you had to climb up to get to, but they are doing quite a bit of channeling of the river thrre, for a new boating area? I may post that later also.
