2016 General Photos

Postby nebraska » Fri Mar 11, 2016 8:08 am

At Neb Med this morning, I stared at the sun rising for about 10 minutes. Right before this picture, the bottom of the clouds were an amazing pink color.

Saw this on facebook and was really wowed, never knew about this. The state capitol's large arched windows are aligned for the sun to perfectly shine through them on the spring and fall equinox. What a masterpiece that building is!

Cool photo!

I don't know if it was intentional on the Nebraska capitol building, but that same effect happens on the equinoxes on any building with aligned east & west facing windows, open in between.
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.

It's both soothing and brooding the way St Cecilia sits up there on that hill.

Here's my random photo from this morning...

I was going to photograph the Newman Center but there were too many workers today so I decided to head over to aksaeben. As I turned the coner by the Newman Center, I could see a huge spray of water above the FDR building. Must have been training because there were a half dozen fire trucks parked, a whole bunch of fireman watching, and then one guy up on the ladder shooting water as far as he could. Impressive distance on that spray. This was probably around 8:30 am this morning.

Last night was awesome. Depending where you were at there was a double rainbow. Great sunset colors too.

When you put it like that, this looks like the kind of place where I'd like to live.

Wasn't sure where to put this, incredible drone footage of downtown that I don't think has been posted here.

That's what I wondered as well, I wasn't sure what steps you would need to get to fly a drone around that high downtown.
