Back on April 3rd, I did a walking tour of Downtown Council Bluffs. I only took one lens, my 50mm and shot it all in black and white. It was fun trying something a little different. I started out shooting B&W so that is always fun, however the last time I shot a fixed focal length lens was probably in college. I have had the 50mm for a few years now, but never use it. Little challenging since I am so use to zooming in and out, and I am totally spoiled by my wide angle lens.

Re: DT CB 50mm BW
Being from CB, I love those. I think that CB has the best collection of old buildings in the entire metro. Omaha would have it beat, if not for tearing everything down for the Leahy Mall and worst of all, the State office building.

Thanks Everyone!
Completely. I often wonder how many people in Omaha have actually been to Downtown Council Bluffs. I bet the Number is way under 50%, some days I think its closer to 25%.Ingersoll1978 wrote:Great photos!!! Council Bluffs is underrated.

Re: DT CB 50mm BW
CB has really done some great things in the past 10-15 years with their downtown. I have read and noticed that they have a different idea about the old buildings than Omaha does. CB tries to restore the buildings whenever possible, I am not so sure Omaha has the same mentality.
Re: DT CB 50mm BW
CB has a lot to be proud of as far as saving their heritage. You could say Omaha, in some ways, has been a victim of it's own success. Perfectly good buildings were town down to make way for new things which in many cases are less valuable now than what they replaced would be, especially after re-purposing.
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.
