I mentioned this on Facebook, but I have never seen them at Manawa before. Anyone know if they are usually there?

I have seen one or two there before. Mostly in the area by the houses that are on the water that are not directly on the lake. No where these numbers though.

Great photos!

Someone needs to run out to the Wildlife Safari and see if they left home over there!

Thanks guys.

I have seen them at some of the smaller lakes along I29 in the spring, and I have seen them out in the sandhills, but I've never seen them at Manawa. I am also not sure I every went back after the eagles left in the spring so I could have just missed them.

We have a cousin that lived at Beaver lake or Lake Wa con-da and he said they usually stayed there for a couple weeks every spring.

Glad to see they are still over there.

You might want to take a look at your camera or lens, looks like only 2 or 3 of the 6 photos are in focus. The file info shows you were shooting F8 at 1/500 of a second. Those photos should be way sharper than they are. Did you drop your lens or mess with your camera setting?

Well, you know my equipment... I thought it was because I had my zoom on full extension focusing not exactly on the section I cropped out, using a makeshift tripod... I found out my shoe was missing.

This is the before and after of the last shot...

Yeah, that's why I thought it was strange. I have always had good luck canon DSLR cameras. But, I have had to send a couple lenses to Canon over the years because for whatever reason they just aren't as sharp anymore.

However:

That can do it too, I didn't realize you zoomed in so far. May be bump the ISO up to 400 or 800 and get that shutter speed up closer to 1/2000 of a second and see what happens. You won't need any tripod at 1/2000 of a second and the moving birds at that zoom are really moving. If your camera is focusing fine, you could close down the aperture instead of increasing the ISO.

There was at least 100 Pelicans hanging out at the lake today. I dont know if its the same ones that been there for a month but these looked a little different. They were mostly those ones that are all white with the black wing stripes.
