Local vanity plates

Post by w8ing »

Though not exactly high on the quality scale, it's become a hobby of mine to take pics of interesting personalized plates. These are a handful of them. Also, I do have a pic of a Swift. Any connection to the Swift on this board?

My license used to say IN OMAHA.

It would be nice if they allowed us to order plates that said Omaha instead of Nebraska and had the skyline (of course) instead of the state outline.

I'd be all over that.

No, it didn't say "D CHENEY". :P

It did have some sweet rims and and tinted windows. It was a Lincoln, circa 80s and it was spotted near St. Joe's hospital. Is it still called St. Joseph or is it Creighton now?

They are pretty much your run-of-the-mill hockey team. Haven't made much of a splash during their short time playing hockey.

Oh come now... they've done pretty well in their relatively short history. Last season was UNO's best, finishing tied for 4th in the CCHA and getting their first NCAA tournament bid. Of course you know me... I'd rather see Omaha shift it's attention towards our AHL franchise, but I seem to be alone in that regard.

No cave for me MTO... UNO was 20-15-6 last year. I am just used to watching my team, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who finished 27-9-5...but they blew it in the NCAA tourney. Yeah, it's great that UNO made the tourney, but they have a long way to go.

I think I'm finally going to spend the dough and get personal plates. I was going to buy my new car today but somebody beat me to it. :x I guess I really don't need a supercharged car.

Two people who used to live here left a comment on my vanity plate set on flickr and said they'd spotted a "MROMAHA" plate and had even followed him to attempt a photo but he got freaked out. lol

That is the quintessessential Omaha plate.

Used to live here? Did they see it somewhere else, other than Omaha? That would be interesting, but I suppose they saw it back here.

Hal Daub would be the first person that would come to mind... or perhaps one of our larger philanthropists (Durham, Lauritzen, etc).

They saw it when they lived there. I keep an eye out. Oh, and I keep an eye out for 'THRIFTY'. I believe that is Buffett's.

Someone pointed out to me that OMA X 3 is probably a grandma reference. OMA is a nickname in German and Dutch for grandma.

This is probably my favorite find this week:

I find humor in a lot of the random 3-letter 3-number combos.
