I would be interested in seeing what the culture is like now.  When I worked for the Athletic Department in the late 1990's, Osborne/Solich ran a pretty tight ship.  I wonder if things changed very much under Callahan and, if so, what Osborne has done about it in his new role.

I am not surprised when any major program gets in trouble like this.

One example I can think of is when Pelini ripped Martinez for calling his dad during the A&M game.  If Pelini was that ticked about that I cannot see him letting things get out of hand.  But like I said I wouldn't be surprised one bit if something like this came out about Nebraska.

I think players selling their stuff has got to occur on about every major campus. I just can't see any program being spotless on this. The major problem was when Tressel found out he did not act.

I was never a Callahan fan but have not heard of anything he did not being by the book rules-wise.

CBS will play at least 24 B1G Ten basketball games this winter.  I noticed that the B1G Ten has much better national coverage than the Big 12, but how much exposure Nebraska will get remains to be seen.

Given the brutal schedule we've got... I suspect we'll get plenty.

Russell Wilson from NC St. is transferring to Wisconsin and will very likely be starting.  That game just got tougher.

In basketball? Bollocks. Nebraska was just called out by Joe Lunardi on ESPN as being one of the 10 worst schedulers in college basketball.

I think he meant in conference.

I also think he meant in football (which CBS won't cover - that's ABC, ESPN, and BTN), since everyone plays essentially an identical basketball schedule.
Stable genius.

yeah, I was obviously half asleep when I read that/responded... I haven't been following telecasts... not sure why I would have thought CBS would be picking up Big 10 (football) games... much less there being 24 of them!

Speaking of BTN, this weekend is basically "Welcome Nebraska" weekend.  Showing a bunch of games and highlights from the last time college football was relevant (94-97).
Stable genius.

Last night the Big 10 Network was on at least 1/3 of the TV's at Barret's Barleycorn and they were showing the NU v Stanford National Championship Volleyball Game from Qwest Center Omaha a few years ago.  That was great exposure for NU and Omaha!

Ahman Green joins Big Ten Network
ESPN wrote:The Big Ten Network has hired the 34-year-old Green as a sideline analyst for selected games this fall. His first assignment for BTN is Nebraska's Sept. 3 opener against Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Green said his role would be to offer his opinion on strategies and other coaching decisions as well as other in-game issues. He also is doing some volunteer high school coaching this fall in Green Bay.

What did Kugler do?

One angle on the Big 10, it's disappointing we will see less NU volleyball on TV and tape delayed no less, but I am really looking forward to NU/Penn State games.  Incredibly intense between the coaches.  Real honest genuine dislike for each other.

Will NET not be allowed to air games now?  That would be a bummer that is the case.

Did he give up his national play by play work on the weekends on radio?

Random question - but is anyone going to the Nebraska/Minnesota game in Minneapolis?  I heard that stadium is sick!

I know their video screen is considerably larger than Nebraska's and in a smaller stadium you sit even closer to it.

I want so bad to go up to 'the Bank', but tickets are going for $150+ !  Obviously being driven by Nebraska fans.  I never paid anywhere near that for any other Minnesota home games... all I cared about was seeing the marching band, would never have bothered to go see my son play otherwise.  All the Big 10 bands are kick |expletive|... use a physically gruelling high step which NU will need to match.

(some glimpses of the stadium... nothing spectacular really other than it being new, seats 50,000... open end... open concourse, which makes for no refuge in the freezing late season)
Part of Minnesota's 10 minute pre-game show
Shoot for the Moon... if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Lacrosse!

Is the B1G becoming a leading conference in Lacrosse?

Maryland just beat Boston College for the Women's National Championship.
(#1) Maryland is leading (#3) Ohio State at halftime for the Men's National Championship.

The Men's B1G RPI:

1. Maryland
5. Penn St
6. Ohio St
7. John's Hopkins
12. Rutgers
25. Michigan

Nebraska HS has Creighton Prep, Lincoln and Millard West with decent teams,
Will Nebraska ever embrace the sport?

I've always wondered why UNL doesn't have DI lacrosse. Is it that expensive? I suppose with scholarships it could be.
