The Omaha Heart (Lingerie Football League)

Post by nebugeater »

This is sports at some level I guess so I will put it here.  The Lingerie Football League will be invading the Omaha market and playing at the New Ralston arena as an expansion team.

The Lingerie Football League, recognized as ‘the fastest growing sports league in the U.S.’ (Businessweek), today announced that Omaha, Nebraska has been awarded an expansion franchise in advance of the rapidly approaching 2013 LFL United States season.

The yet-to-be-named franchise will play their home games at the newly-constructed Ralston Arena, near Omaha, and is expected to compete in the LFL’s Eastern Conference against the Baltimore Charm, Cleveland Crush, Orlando Fantasy, Philadelphia Passion and Tampa Breeze

This is big news in the sense that the current teams are only in major markets:
1. Philadelphia
2. Tampa
3. Orlando
4. Baltimore
5. Cleveland
6. Toronto
7. Los Angeles
8. Las Vegas
9. Seattle
10. Chicago
11. Minneapolis
12. Green Bay

And from the LFL website:
Omaha is perhaps the most under-rated sports market in the country. The fanaticism around the support of local teams coupled with an incredible state-of-the-art facility, made for a compelling story to bring LFL Football to Football Town USA”, said Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.

Comments on Omaha.com are fantastic. Getting a lot of the "this is not heartland values" with a mix of some great sarcastic ones.

Apparently there won't be tickets sold, you just have to pay a $20 cover which comes with a free drink ticket.  Sounds awesome!

Heard about this on a national radio show last night.  If the Football is a sucess then maybe they can go after this as another tentant for the arena.

Apparently they played their first home game this past weekend against Jacksonville.  The final score was Omaha 8, Jacksonville 0.  Or maybe they stopped keeping score after a while.

Well apparently they are calling this the "Legends Football League." Damn political correctness :;): . Also Omaha's team is terrible, lost 86-0 to Atlanta. Why bother having this team honestly.

Wow that's a horrible blowout score, going to have to agree. Have they been good in previous seasons?

Jacob, this endeavor has absolutely nothing to do with football. It's about boobs, beer, and hope for wardrobe malfunctions. The football is a sideshow, like mud wrestling.

This year's Omaha team is awful. I watched one of their televised games (think it was on Spike) and they just did not belong on the field with the other team.
